The Armor of God Prayers.

The Armor of God: A List with Bible Verses, By Violette Blue 29.06.2025

  1. Belt of Truth
“Stand therefore, having fastened on the belt of truth…”
    Ephesians 6:14a
The belt holds everything together, just like truth keeps your life from falling apart. It’s about being honest with yourself, with God, and with others.
  2. Breastplate of Righteousness
“…and having put on the breastplate of righteousness…”
    Ephesians 6:14b
This is about protecting your heart. Living right—choosing what’s good, fair, and just—keeps you steady even when things get rough.
  3. Shoes of the Gospel of Peace
“…and, as shoes for your feet, having put on the readiness given by the gospel of peace.”
    Ephesians 6:15
Shoes get you moving. Being grounded in peace means you’re ready to go wherever God sends you—without fear or anxiety tripping you up.
  4. Shield of Faith
“In all circumstances take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming darts of the evil one…”
    Ephesians 6:16
Faith is your defense. When doubts or worries come flying at you, trust in God is what keeps them from hitting home.
  5. Helmet of Salvation
“and take the helmet of salvation…”
    Ephesians 6:17a
Your head needs protection, too. Remembering you’re saved and loved by God keeps your thoughts clear and your mind focused.
  6. Sword of the Spirit
“…and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God…”
    Ephesians 6:17b
This is the only piece of armor that’s also a weapon. Knowing God’s word gives you something to fight back with, not just defend yourself.

Reference: Ephesians 6:10-18
Putting on the armor of God is about being ready—inside and out—to stand strong, no matter what life throws at you.

Prayers for the Armor of God

Heavenly Father,

Today, I come before You, ready to put on the full armor You have given me. I know the battles I face are not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities beyond what I can see. So, I take up Your armor with faith and confidence.

Lord, I fasten the belt of truth around my waist. Help me to live honestly, speak truth with love, and reject every lie that seeks to ensnare me. Let Your truth be my foundation, keeping me steady when everything around me shakes.

I put on the breastplate of righteousness, trusting that Your grace covers my heart. Guard my emotions, my thoughts, and my desires from the attacks of the enemy. Remind me that I am made right through Christ, not by my own works, so I can walk boldly without fear of condemnation.

With my feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace, I pray for steady steps. Wherever You lead, may I go with peace in my heart, spreading Your love even in the hardest places.

I lift the shield of faith to extinguish the fiery darts of doubt, fear, and temptation. When the enemy tries to shake my belief, strengthen my faith so I can stand firm, knowing You are greater than any challenge.

I put on the helmet of salvation, guarding my mind from confusion and despair. Remind me daily of the hope I have in You, that no matter what comes, my salvation is secure.

Finally, I take up the sword of the Spirit—Your Word. Let it be alive in me, a weapon to cut through lies and a guide to walk in Your will. Teach me to wield it well, not just for defense, but to advance Your kingdom.

In the name of Jesus Christ,

Amen.
